Adult Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age. Although adult patients tend to have less elasticity in their bones, with healthy teeth and bones, adults respond to orthodontic forces in the same manner as in younger individuals.  It is estimated that adults comprise 20-25% of patients having orthodontic treatment.

Many options are available today to minimize the appearance of braces. New techniques and materials make modern appliances smaller, sleeker, less visible and more comfortable. Ceramic brackets, lingual braces and clear aligner therapy (Invisalign) are some of the more esthetic choices available.

As with anything new, there will be a period of adjustment to the new appliances. The vast majority of adults adapt very quickly and easily develop a new routine with braces or aligners. To attain your dental goals, your orthodontists, Dr. Cheng Lun Wang, Dr. Kevin Lee or Dr. Yan Liu, will work with other oral health professionals to help you achieve the best aesthetic and functional results possible for your gums, jaws, and teeth. This collaboration may involve your family dentist and/or other dental specialists such as periodontists, oral surgeons, endodontists, and prosthodontists.
